Hello, my name is Tasha Casagni. I graduated from Binghamton University in 2012 with a bachelor’s of science in Bioengineering and a minor in Environmental Studies. My bachelor’s degree focused on the mathematical modeling of non-linear complex systems. Through this program I gained a firm understanding in coding fundamentals by developing genetic algorithms with Mathematica and MatLab. I also gained critical problem solving and debugging skills. After graduating college, I gave back to my community by taking part in a 1 year AmeriCorps contract helping low income families find sustainable and cost effective solutions to making their own house-hold products. This program allowed me to become a confident public speaker as well as become a better innovator.
In a collaborative team, I designed a hike locator app that takes in a user’s zip code or city input and pulls up local hiking hotspots. It also presents the user with a five-day forecast to help them decide when they would like to hike.
